The Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films is the largest short film festival in North America. Ron was there with Director, Aaron Schneider to support "Two Soldiers," in which he plays the role of Colonel James McKellog.

Award winners receiving a first place prize at Palm Springs are automatically eligible for consideration by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for an Academy Award nomination.

"Two Soldiers" won first place for Best Live Action over 15 minutes at the Palm Springs festival, and went on to win the Oscar for Best Short Film at the 76th Academy Awards in February 2004.
