Synopsis:
Betty Monday (Cheryl Pollak) is the world's biggest movie star. But the pressure of staying on top has made her snap. In the middle of making her $70 million movie she flees from the set and hides away at a Palm Spring retirement community. Once there she rents a secluded home from a quirky real estate agent (Udo Kier) who is the only one who knows her true identity.

Betty decides that if her existence is to have any meaning, she must abandon her celebrity status for the truth of a "normal life." Undercover, she takes on odd jobs from delivering groceries to selling novelty products. When she meets Fred, the local pool cleaning man, she believes that she has found her true calling. She begs Fred to be her mentor and teach her the pool cleaning trade. He agrees only after she pays him, but his interest in her grows far beyond their business arrangement.

Crystal (Holland Taylor), Betty's manager, finally finds her runaway star and tries to force her to return to Hollywood. Now, Betty must choose between her old life filled with glitz and glamour and her new life as a professional pool cleaner with a man who might just be able to show her what life is really about.
