Pre-Emmy Interviews with Ron Perlman
1989

INTERVIEW 1

Interviewer: Ron, in the light of the fact that the series has had its ups and downs - is it going to be on, is it going to be off - what's the story with that, and how do you feel about it?

Perlman: It was always a series that there was never a precedent for, and it was a very difficult series to fit into mainstream network television, so I'm just grateful that we've had any time at all on the air, and…. I'm thrilled about the way the industry views us, of course, by honouring us with all these Emmy nominations. That's the icing on the cake.

Interviewer: Sure. There is talk that it will be back in January. Is there any credence to that?

Perlman: Well, it will be back. We don't know when. It could be back as early as October, or somewhere in between. We'll see.

Interviewer: We wish you the best of luck tonight, you have a lot to look forward to.

Perlman: Thank you very much.

PRE-EMMY INTERVIEW 2

1st interviewer: We have Mr Ron Perlman from "Beauty and the Beast."

Perlman: Hi Sam.

2nd interviewer: Welcome Ron. I hear that your co-star (Linda Hamilton) is imminent…

Perlman: Imminent... imminently large. She's due to give birth to her first child in 10 days, so she's having some lower back problems which will prevent her from appearing tonight.

2nd interviewer: Ah, but she's doing the show also… she's still doing "Beauty and the Beast?"

Perlman: Oh yeah, she's working on the show.

2nd interviewer: Wonderful, and she won't be off too long, she'll just bring the baby and do the show?

Perlman: We hope so.

2nd interviewer: Wonderful. Well, good luck to you this year. It's such a wonderful show; so romantic.

Perlman: Thank you. Good luck to you too; good luck with that Friday at 8 slot.

2nd interviewer: Oh well, you did a good job there.

Ist interviewer: Thank you for paving the way, by the way.

Perlman: We tried, we tried, but there's always room for improvement.

2nd interviewer: We hope to keep your audience and get some more.

Ist interviewer: Alright, thank you very much Ron. And they will be back…

(Ron smiles, and turns away into the crowd).
