Pre-Emmy Interviews
with Ron Perlman

Interview 1

Interviewer: We've already spoken to Linda Hamilton. She's pulling for you. How do you feel tonight?

Perlman: Oh, I'm just -- I haven't touched the ground all month. It's exciting. It's been a dream year, and this is the icing on the cake.

Interviewer: It's really an innovative show, and this a sign that your fans and the Academy appreciate the innovation, and the change, and the daring.

Perlman: Incredible - stunning surprise. I just want to thank the fans that responded so strongly to the show. It was a great surprise to all of us - very humbling. I just hope we can continue to delight people as we have.

Interviewer: Now, when you were approached with the idea of the show, because it is so unique and so innovative, What did you think as an actor? Did you think, "Gee this is impossible? Or---."

Perlman: Well, I thought that the first script was stunning and I thought that it was exceptional. I wasn't sure whether it could sustain itself week after week, but the writers have come up to the task, and the fans seem to be responding in kind.

Interviewer: Yes, definitely, they have responded. Thank you so much.

Interview 2

Perlman: Hi.

Interviewer: Congratulations tonight, Ron. You have so many people pulling at you. Do you have any trouble when you go into a crowd like this - people expecting you to look as you do in the show?

Perlman: I have no trouble in crowds at all. Nobody knows who I am usually.

Interviewer: Most of the roles that you've had, you've been disguised in some way. Isn't that right?

Perlman: Well, three of the big ones. Yes, I have and I'm going to keep it that way as long as possible. It's not a bad way to be. Thank you.

Interviewer: Thank you, Ron.
